Diabetes is a dreaded disease mostly related with life-style related issues.
This map depicts the total (male plus female) diabetic population state-wise, as a percentage of the state population.
On top of the list in Kerala (51.8%), followed by Tamil Nadu (42.8%) and then Andhra Pradesh (41.3%).
The bottom three are Rajasthan (16.1%), Jammu and Kashmir (16.7%) and Ladakh (15%).
In states where the staple food in rice, diabetes seems to be on the higher side.
Is diabetes linked to eating habits? Would like doctors to comment.
