Uttar Pradesh Corona Management – Hype vs Reality |WDTDS| Episode 24

The Reserve Bank of India has recently published a report titled ‘State Finances – A Study of Budgets of 2021-22’. The bank has raised a cautionary flag as the public debt of several states is exceeding the established norms. One data table details the state GSDP with the impact of Corona in the state. This table gives an insight into the Corona effect in India. A little analysis shows that there are too many gaps, which the governments have so far not answered.

Ironically, Bihar, UP, Jharkhand, and Madhya Pradesh were the least affected by the pandemic, despite being the most populous. These states belong to the BIMARU group and have the lowest per capita income in the country. On the other hand, the better off states like Kerala and Maharashtra were among the states affected the most by Corona.

The percentage of the affected population in tiny places such as Lakshadweep and Andamans was higher. The distribution curve is just the opposite of what one would have expected.

On the other hand, US data showed no anomaly and no bias towards the population. The distribution is normal as one would have expected.
This analysis leaves us with too many questions about Corona Management in some states – or rather Corona data management – shall we say!
